BreweriesSioux Falls Brewing Company (SFBC),was opened its doors in February 1995. This restaurant/brewery was located three blocks from the original site of the Sioux Falls Brewing and Malting Company (the building is gone now due to fire). The SFBC brought back the rich tradition of brewing to the city after a nearly eighty year absence.
South Dakota imposed prohibition and closed the original Sioux Falls brewery in 1917, nearly 2 years before the Volstead Act of prohibition was passed (over the president's veto) by Congress.
